 Post War
The protracted ethnic conflict in Sri Lanka has come to an end, bringing about an immense opportunity, for the first time, for CandleAid to provide assistance to those impacted by the war. CandleAid has mobilised immediate projects and set out a three pronged strategy:

Short-Term: Goal 20 X 20 X 20 - Our immediate focus is providing:

20 Temporary toilets for people located in temporary camps

20 New libraries for rural communities in the North and East

20 Education sponsorships for children impacted by the war

Medium-Term: Focusing on children - Our goal is to provide educational assistance to children. We are partnering with both government and non-government groups to identify projects which will deliver effective and sustained assistance. Updates will be posted on this page.

Long-Term: Providing physical infrastructure - Continuing our focus on children, our goal is to provide learning infrastructure (eg. pre-schools, schools and vocational training centres) in areas demarcated by the urban planning authorities. We are in contact with the government agencies and will be informed as projects are released.
